If you want a good blog to follow I suggest you read the trials and tribulations of one “White Knight” over at Rusty Gooch Racing, with a blurb like this (below) how could you not get sucked in?
About
RG Racing is an ongoing account of the trials and tribulations of Jase as he attempts to prepare himself and his Suzuki RG150 for racing in the Street Stock class of the VMCC Winter Series (and then hopefully the PMCC Summer Series). There are two key issues for Jase and his bike to overcome before this can happen:
1. Jase’s bike is not quite a runner.
Well, it is, but it is not quite up to spec and requires some work before it will be track ready. The deadline has been set at April 19th – there is a track day on at a (not quite) local track, a month ahead of the first race (which is at an even less local track). This track day will be the final shakedown, providing everything goes to plan.
2. Jase is a fat man with a skinny bike.
This is all well and good, except that the laws of physics have intervened to make this a not-quite-so-ideal situation. Therefore, part of the process of preparation involves Jase taking up some (*gasp*) exercise, in order to increase his power-to-weight ratio.
Jase took up motorcycling at age 18 after wanting to get his licence for a few years (laziness was the only reason it didn’t happen earlier). He immediately fell in love with motorcycling. After attending a track day at Manfield racing circuit (Fielding, New Zealand) back in 2007 on his bike at the time (the might Suzuki TL1000R), he decided that he needed to acquire a race bike and enter competitive racing. Later that year, he purchased a 1998 Suzuki RG150ES – a lightweight, 150cc single-cylinder two-stroke, fully faired commuter bike made by Suzuki Thailand. This bike wasn’t 100% (and its price reflected this), so Jase proceeded to start bringing it up to spec. After a major initial hiccup – getting a piston that was a size too small – it is finally starting to come together (the piston problem along with life in general delayed the project for roughly 18 months), and it looks like the 2009 VMCC Winter Series will see its debut. It will be raced in the Street Stock class – a class for high-power 250cc 4-stroke & 150cc 2-stroke bikes to race in stock standrad road trim (read: cheap entry level racing).
Jase is a top bloke in real life, and interesting happenings seem to befall him on a regular basis…

Work is workalicious, I’ve been rocking around with the oldschool crew, trying to pick up how to find faults using a dynetel, its all above my head still, but I hope the more I watch/ try to do it the more it will come clear to me, Going to Parame to have a meeting with my apprenticship co-ordinator this arvo, and to hand in some Unit Standerds for my level 2/ 3 so I can get down to the next course this August.
Peace
